At Berewood Primary, our PSHE curriculum is designed to support every child in developing the knowledge, skills, and values they need to lead healthy, safe, and fulfilling lives. We use the 360 PSHE programme as the core structure for our teaching. This provides a clear, progressive framework covering Health and Wellbeing, Relationships, and Living in the Wider World, ensuring that pupils learn in an age-appropriate, engaging, and inclusive way.
In line with statutory requirements, our curriculum includes Relationships Education and Health Education, as well as carefully planned Sex Education content. While we follow the structure of 360 PSHE, we also recognise the importance of tailoring learning to the specific needs of our school community. We therefore make thoughtful adaptations to reflect local priorities, emerging issues, and the lived experiences of our pupils. This may include additional lessons, enhanced themes, or bespoke content to support pupils’ personal development and emotional wellbeing.
As required by the DfE guidance (July 2025), parents have the right to withdraw their child from the non-statutory elements of Sex Education. This does not apply to the statutory teaching of Relationships or Health Education. Parents wishing to consider withdrawal are encouraged to discuss their request with the school so that we can provide clarity about lesson content, share resources, and ensure an informed decision. Please see our RSE Policy in the policy section of our website for more information.
By combining the consistency of the 360 PSHE curriculum with considered local adaptations, we ensure that PSHE at Berewood Primary remains relevant, meaningful, and supportive of all pupils as they grow and develop.
