It's Coming Home!

To celebrate the England football team reaching the Semi Finals of the World Cup in Russia, on Wednesday 11th July 2018 we enjoyed our own "It's Coming Home" day. Children dressed in red and white and we held a football tournament outside on the playing field.

Sports Day 2018

We held our school Sports Day on 3rd July 2018 on a gloriously warm and sunny Tuesday. Children wore colours based on which house they belong to (red for Owls, yellow for Hawks, blue for Eagles and green for Falcons) and participated in a range of events and races over the day. Sports leaders from nearby Crookhorn College organised the day brilliantly and the children had a lot of fun.

PTA Summer Fair

After months of planning and a lot of hard work from our amazing team of PTA volunteers, our Berewood PTA Summer Fair was held on Saturday 30th June. Staff, parents, carers and children all joined in the fun which included fair ground rides, raffle, tombola, face painting, lots of stalls, and many events and displays in the arena. Year 5/6 Residential Trip

From 24-26 June 2018, Peake Class stayred at Marchants Hill in Hindhead for their school residential trip. They took part in a range of activities including raft building, climbing, using a trapeze and zipwire, plus lots of team building activities. YR Teddy Bear's Picnic

As part of their Bears topic, YR held a Teddy Bear's Picnic for parents and carers on 24th May 2018. The children worked hard in the weeks before the picnic, shopping for and cooking the food, and learning about money in class.

Pirate Ship Opening

Our PTA have been working hard over the last few years to raise money for a galleon climbing frame in the Year R outdoor learning area, and we had a Grand Opening to celebrate it's arrival. Children came to school dressed as pirates and a ribbon was cut by footballer Nathan Thompson from Portmouth Football Club.

Year 2 Trip to Action Stations

World Book Day

Year 5 & 6 trip to Stansted House

On Tuesday 30th January, Peake Class imagined what if would have felt like to be a WW2 evacuee for a day. They dressed as evacuees and travelled by train to Rowlands Castle, before walking across the fields to Stansted House. There, they toured the house, learnt about rationing, made ragrugs, played with toys from that era and handled pre-decimal money.

Roaming Robots & Japan

In the autumn term, the topic in Year 3 and 4 was Roaming Robots. The children found out that most robots are manufactured in Japan, so used the opportunity to learn about Japanese culture in the Geography lessons, including tasting food like noodles and seaweed, and folding their own origami shapes.

Christmas 2017

The school is always a busy and festive place in the weeks leading up to Christmas but the 19th December 2017 was especially fun. Children and staff came to school wearing Christmas jumpers and ate a Christmas lunch together. Children made and decorated their own place mats and the PTA supplied crackers for everyone.

Year 2 Medieval Banquet

Roaming Robots Workshop Day

Our Year 3 and 4 classes are learning about the "Rise of the Robots" this term and on Tuesday 31st October, they took part in a fun day of activities led by "Roaming Robots". They worked in teams to design and wire their own remote controlled robots, and also got to see first hand some of the machines used on the TV programme "Robot Wars". Be Bright Be Seen

On 19th October 2017, children took part in a "Be Bright Be Seen" non-school uniform day, in which they came to school dresssed in their brightest clothes and learned about how to be safe when travelling to and from school in the dark.

Forest School Autumn 17

Our Forest School curriculum is now in it's second year and continues to grow as the children develop their Forest School skills and increase their confidence. They have particulary enjoyed cooking outdoors on an open fire and eating the delicious results, including pancakes, pizza and bread.

Y5/6 Visit Chichester Planetarium

Comic Relief, 24th March 2017

We celebrated Red Nose Day at Berewood by wearing non-school uniform with a splash of red. The PTA held a cake sale after school with cakes and healthy snacks donated by children and parents. Our school fundraising raised an impressive total of £271.80 for Comic Relief!
