School dog - Nala

We’re very excited to introduce Nala, our latest member of staff and adorable school dog!

Nala is a Cavapoo puppy who was born on 18th October 2025, and she started visiting our school from January 2026. She’s already settling in brilliantly and is quickly becoming a very loved member of our school community.

Nala loves cuddles, attention, learning new things, and saying hello to everyone she meets! As she grows, she’ll be gradually spending more time in school, meeting pupils, joining in activities, and learning how to be a calm, friendly school dog.

What is a Cavapoo?

A Cavapoo is a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle
They’re known for being:

Gentle and loving

Very friendly with children

Playful but calm

Intelligent and easy to train

Low-shedding, which can be helpful for allergies

Cavapoos are often chosen as therapy and school dogs because of their lovely nature and their ability to make people feel calm, safe and happy.

Why Have a School Dog?

Having a school dog like Nala can bring lots of benefits, including:

🐶 Emotional support – dogs are great at comforting children and reducing stress or anxiety.
📚 Encouraging reading and learning – some children feel more confident reading to a dog than to an adult.
😊 Boosting wellbeing and happiness – spending time with a dog can lift moods and make school feel even more welcoming.
💬 Helping communication and social skills – dogs encourage talking, sharing, and working together.
🧠 Developing responsibility – pupils learn about care, kindness, and respect for animals.

Nala will always be carefully supervised, introduced to pupils gradually, and looked after with great care to make sure both she and everyone in school are safe and happy.

We’re really proud to have Nala as part of our school family and we can’t wait to share her adventures as she grows! 🐾
